If you venture out early to see the sunrise at the beach on Amelia Island, you won’t be alone. In Fernandina, you’ll find others who also appreciate the simple beauty of a sunrise, and the special setting of the beach.

Today, the sun came up over the Atlantic Ocean at around 7:30 am -- late for a sunrise. But these last weeks of October leading up to the “fall back” of the clocks on November 1st, means you don’t have to get up as early to witness the orange glow of a sunrise. For those who are not “morning people,” now’s a great time to catch an autumn sunrise on Amelia Island.

With the tide fairly low this morning, a bike rider took advantage to pedal on the packed sand by the shoreline.
A few folks were at the beach for a sunrise jog. A lone dog walker came to enjoy the view with his pooch.

Some arrive at the beach with a cup of coffee.

For those who don’t live by the beach, the visiting tourists, could there be a better thing to do, to start a vacation day on Amelia Island? For those staying at the island’s oceanfront lodging -- condos, hotels, beach cottages -- it only requires stepping out onto the rear balcony or porch.

For Amelia Island residents, no matter where your home is on the island, you’re within 2 miles or so of the east coast, and a beachfront sunrise.
