DESCRIPTION:THE AMELIA ISLAND BOOK FESTIVAL will take place on this no
 rtheast Florida barrier island Friday, February 12 and Saturday, Febru
 ary 13, 2010. The festival consists of author talks, readings, worksho
 ps, luncheons, a book marketplace, Children’s Chapter, and more. The
  festival brings together authors of all genres including novels of no
 nfiction, mystery, history, adventure, Southern literature, poetry and
  books for young readers. The book festival event, held annually on Am
 elia Island, typically features regional authors and others from aroun
 d the county. The experience affords festival-goers the opportunity to
  meet and hear best selling authors in a casual, friendly setting. Thi
 s year a Pulitzer Prize-winning American journalist, Rick Bragg, and b
 est-selling novelist, Cassandra King, are among the featured authors p
 articipating at the Amelia Island Book Festival.\nThere's a day of lea
 rning and sharing at the Writers’ Workshops, offered in partnership 
 with Florida State College (at Betty Cook campus in Yulee) from 8 am t
 o 5 pm on Friday, February 12, 2010 (tickets $90). A sampling of some 
 of the Writers’ Workshops being offered this year include: History T
 hrough Story-Telling, Memoir Writing, Do’s and Don’ts of Publishin
 g, From Story to Script to Screen, and others. Also, a panel of best-s
 elling authors will present <i>“Putting the South in Southern.”</i
 >\n<i>“A Night With Poppy”</i> is a special evening event with fam
 ed author, Pat Conroy (best-selling novels include <u>Prince of Tides<
 /u>, and <u>The Great Santini</u>) and his daughter, author Melissa Co
 nroy. Tickets are $50 to this event to be held February 13, 2010 at 7 
 pm at the “old” First Baptist Church located in the historic distr
 ict of Fernandina Beach.\n\nBOOK FESTIVAL IS GREAT EXPERIENCE FOR CHIL
 DREN\n\nThe main event is an all-day free festival with a featured and
  local author bookstore, presentations, food booths, and Children’s 
 Chapter. If you have kids aged 3 to 12, seek out the Children’s Chap
 ter tent where special projects and activities will be held on Saturda
 y, February 13, 2010 from 9 am until 4 pm. This free festival day is h
